Description Two piece black silk faille and blue velvet dinner or evening dress. The jacket is made blue velvet, has a standing collar pleated in back, a peplum extra long and split at front and pleated and full at back decorated with a braided tassel, and seven button closure at center front with black crochet covered buttons with jet bead centers. The sleeves are black silk with deep velvet cuffs. The full-trained skirt is made of black silk and blue velvet horizontal stripes at front with drapery formed wings of blue velvet at side leading into the full blue velvet train in back. The bodice and bottom hem of the skirt is lined in black silk. The skirt is partially lined in a stiff brown fabric.

Provenance Old records state that this dress was in an upstairs bedroom in Hixon House. It further states that it came from Lake Forest, IL., which is where the Hixons' son Frank moved with his second wife. Possible a family heirloom from Alice Green Hixon's family.
