Description WWI white sailor suit from the U.S. Navy (also known as an Underdress White Service Uniform or "work whites"). Trousers are an off-white/ivory color, flare out towards the bottom, there are 2 front pockets, the fly buttons closed with 6 ivory bone buttons, and the back of the trousers has an opening that laces up from the tailbone to the waistband.

Provenance This uniform was worn by Dewey A. Bensend of Whitehall, Wisconsin. He was a veteran of WWI. He was born in 1898 and died in 1986. His occupation was an electrical contractor.
