Notes "Sometimes called the second founder of La Crosse, Timothy Burns carried on where Nathan Myrick left off. He was the leader of the first town board, and was instrumental in platting much of the city. Burns served as Lieutenant Governor of Wisconsin from 1851 until his death while in office in 1853."
