    "Start Any Time Perpetual Pocket Diary" given to Kermit Brekke by Evelyn (future wife) on February 17. Black covers with "Diary" written in gold on front cover. "Recieved Feb 17 from E.S." written on top of front page. Created for the year 1943. Page shown has special record on March 9: "moved got letter from E. Best one ever gotten. Said yes got from Olida to said she was trying to get me out." Refers to his engagement to Evelyn.

    Fringe on three sides made of gold metal twisted braid. Fourth side had five pair of ribbon ties, each 7 inches long. Three panels of sild (green, white, and red) with center oval medallion depicting map of Italy with letters CCSF. Above the oval are workds:"Sindacato Fascista; Operai Soc:An:Materiali Refrattari Livorno" written in twisted gold metallic braid, similar to fringe. Fabric is taffeta on white warp.

    Heavy outer fatigue coat from WWII. Heavy cotton fabric, body lined with sheep fleece, arms are lined with a woven wool fabric. Long sleeves, stand-up collar for warmth. Hand-warmer pockets and two hip pockets. Four brown plastic buttons on each side, with one missing on one side. Loop closures. Closure appears to be reversible. Pockets are reinforced at corners with large leather-like triangles. One belt loop, broken.
