George Cooley Hixon was a lumberman in La Crosse, WI. After his college graduation in 1894, he returned to La Crosse. His time in La Crosse was short lived. While working at the Listman Mill, he formed a partnership with a man named John Alexander, they formed the Alexander Lumber Company. They left La Crosse for Chicago, IL. in 1896. Hixon often returned to La Crosse to visit family and friends. He was one of the biggest contributors to Riverside Park. He had many business interests throughout his life and died of an illness in 1923. |
