Charles Loveland was born in La Crosse, WI on October 21, 1881. As a young man, he worked for the Aiken-Gleason Camera Company, and also worked for the Pamperin & Wiggenhorn Cigar Company as a shipping clerk. In 1907, he married Clara Ebner, and they had four children: Ruth, Charles Jr., Donald, and Warren. In 1915, Charles began working for the Northern Engraving Company as a photograph engraver, nameplate manufacturer, and commercial artist, and soon partnered with James Novak after his cofounder, James Christell, retired. By 1922, he was treasurer of the company, and by 1932 was its president. He remained president of the company until circa 1948, when he likely retired. Charles passed away in La Crosse on December 16, 1951. |

A Liberty Walkup airbrush, the Airbrush Manufacturing Co. of Rockford Illinois. In orginal case, but lacking accessories such as a small bottle of needles and an attachable rod that would have served as a guide to hold onto. Airbrush is metal, with a handlegrip of hardwood and steel. Side is stamped with company logo inside an artist's palette: "Airbrush Mfg Co, Rockford, Ill." Case is black, with dark red, padded velvet lining.

Imperial No. 6 folding view camera. Wood body with leather covering. Front opens to allow red leather bellows and lens to be pulled forward on a metal track. Metal cut-out crown at top of lens board. Rauber & Wollensak optical lens. Back opens on hinge to access ground glass. Right side opens to access three 5x7 film holders. IMPERIAL No 6 imprinted on white plate under lens board.
