Lester was raised on a farm during the Depression and attended West Salem High, where he played basketball and ran track. He worked at Wisconsin Photos and danced and sang at the Avalon Ballroom until the war. He enlisted and fought in the European Theatre with the 94th Infantry of Patton's 3rd Army earning 4 battle stars and a presidential citation for his part in breaching the Siegfried Line. After the war he worked at the front desk at the post office. (Submitted by the family). |
