Pint milk bottle with embossed label from Baker Dairy, La Crosse. Bottle has embossed vertical lines around the neck. |
Provenance |
As a teenager, David Arneson was employed by his neighbor Charlie Baker of Baker's Dairy, located on Vine Street between Fourteenth and Fifteenth Streets. He would help stack the milk cans delivered by the farmer, assist with the bottling process after the milk was pasteurized, and cap the milk bottles. Later in life, Arneson found some milk bottles that reminded him of his teenage years working at Baker's Dairy, and he started collecting them. The dairies represented include Baker, Guernsey, Krause, Sanitary, W. H. Pertzsch, Easton Farms, Manke, Weiker's, C. H. Betz, Homestead, Knutson Bros, Modern, and Holmen Coop Creamery Association. |
